This dataset is a global modeled outlook that predicts, at 60% and 90% probabilities, pre-defined bleaching thermal stress levels on coral reefs for each week of the following four months; updated weekly.
The NOAA Coral Reef Watch Four-Month Coral Bleaching Thermal Stress Outlook uses NOAA's foremost Climate Forecast System model to predict the likelihood of coral bleaching thermal stress up to four months in the future. Maps display the likelihood of bleaching thermal stress at 60% and 90% probabilities. The relationship between the modeled Outlook's predicted thermal stress levels and potential bleaching severity is based on Coral Reef Watch's pre-defined stress levels for its satellite coral bleaching thermal stress monitoring (see 7-Day Maximum Bleaching Alert Area for more information).
